Mike Posner’s “I Took A Pill In Ibiza,” the remix for which has returned Posner to the spotlight in the pop world, received a country reworking today from Aaron Parker and Glee star Shanna Henderson.
The song, which in its original form is sung over only an acoustic guitar, has a raw lyrical quality with an open approach that makes it a natural fit for a country iteration. Posner himself has shown an interest in country – he once released a remix of Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, and Tim McGraw’s “Highway Don’t Care,” and was an early fan of folk artist Passenger.
Parker and Henderson’s harmonies delight on their version, which highlights the lyrics and their smooth vocals. The also added some lyrical country twists; Parker changes “I made a million dollars and I spent it on girls and shoes” to “girls and boots” in the first verse.
