Add Brad Paisley to the list of country music’s latest rebels.
The superstar and “ghost panther” took to Twitter over the past couple of days to allegedly leak snippets of his new album, a rap remix, and a new song.
When are the powers that be going to give up and allow me to be the wild and free ghost panther I was born to be? Ha! Hang on.

After promising his label, Sony, that he would not personally post any leaks on Twitter, he engaged fellow Rising Star judge Ludacris as well as radio personality Bobby Bones to help him out, leaking snippets from the album as well as a remix of “Riverbank” featuring country rapper Colt Ford.

While we’ve made our opinion on this trend of country rap remixes pretty clear, at least Paisley employed one of the original country rappers to do so, and the result doesn’t feel quite as contrived as some of the other recent releases (ahem Jake Owen/T-Pain/Mike Posner).
After what appears to be some back and forth between himself and Gary Overton, Chairman & CEO of Sony Music Nashville…
Got this from the head of the label.. Seems pretty clear to me. pic.twitter.com/FmwPWRkFj4

…Paisley put up a snippet of “Moonshine in the Trunk,” an uptempo track that’s fun, light, and right in line with Paisley’s sense of lyrical wit – although perhaps he’s taking some of the lyrics a bit too much to heart –
“Like there’s moonshine in the trunk / blue lights on our tail / like if we get caught they’re gonna haul us off to jail … let’s drive tonight like this whole county’s dry and there’s moonshine in the trunk”
Maybe this is staged in order to further market the single, but even if so… we’re still laughing.
