Brent Cobb Teams Up with Ram Trucks to Document Evolution of New Single

Singer-songwriter Brent Cobb is set to release a new single and video titled “Ain’t A Road Too Long” on Friday, September 15. The track follows 2016’s full-length album Shine On Rainy Day, and comes amidst Cobb’s gig as an opening act on Chris Stapleton’s “All American Road Show” tour. Cobb partnered with Ram Trucks’ “Long Live the Storytellers” campaign to create a video series documenting the writing and recording process for his new song.

Episode 1: Seeking Inspiration

The first episode shows Cobb’s search for ideas, and features commentary from producer Dave Cobb and songwriter Dan Penn. “You know God’s got em all hangin up there in the sky,” says Penn of finding the right song. “You just need to reach up and grab one, and hope you get a winner.” Watch below:

Episode 2: Writer’s Block

The second installment involves plenty of crumpled sheets of paper and a frustration-born game of horseshoes. Cobb continues to sift through his ideas in order to uncover a new song, and ultimately returns to a track from his debut record, “Country Bound” for inspiration. Watch below:

Episode 3: Finding the Song

Cobb finally combines the sounds and ideas he’s been gathering in his mind to create the beginnings of his new single, “Ain’t A Road Too Long.” He takes inspiration for sounds and lyrics from his daily interactions, including the game of horseshoes and a conversation with a window cleaner that offers a crucial lyric.
