Co-writer Ashley Gorley Chats New Jason Aldean Single, “Tonight Looks Good On You”

Jason Aldean’s latest single “Tonight Looks Good On You,” an up-tempo co-write between hit-makers Ashley Gorley, Dallas Davdison, and Rhett Akins, recently went to radio following the success of #1 “Just Gettin’ Started,” also a Gorley and Akins song, co-written with Chris DeStefano.

“It was the first one the three of us have written together, even though I’ve had hits with both those guys separately,” Gorley says of “Tonight Looks Good On You.”

“That day we started two or three songs and couldn’t get into anything that we liked. We were just kinda going through ideas and titles and came across this one, then we just started rocking. I was playing some keyboards, giving it an almost an R&B feel, with a loop going in the background. When I’m over there those guys I usually write on keyboards – it helps you go to different places than guitar sometimes.”

“Melodically we thought just had some fresh stuff and we tried to keep it very simple, which is tough, and not super wordy, which is also tough,” Gorley continues. “The simpler, the harder it is to write.”

The song was sent to Aldean, who clicked with it instantly, cutting the track within a month of its being written. Recently married, Aldean has also said that it’s a wedding song of sorts for him. “It’s just a cool way of telling a girl she’s beautiful,” Gorley says.

“Tonight Looks Good On You” is available on iTunes.
