Cody Jinks premiered on Saving Country Music last week his latest release “Chase That Song,” available on his August 12 album I’m Not The Devil. “Chase That Song” is highly danceable, a whiskey-soaked vocal that invokes spinning across dance floors or hitting the highway.

Texas-based Jinks grew up with a country background – Merle, Waylon, Cash – and a touch of metal. “Merle Haggard and Metallica were the kings,” Jinks says in a release. “They set the tone for me and I spent a good part of my youth wanting to be James Hetfield.” Those influences make their way into his latest, which draws on the classics with signature flair.

“‘Chase That Song’ was the first tune I wrote for the new album,” Jinks tells Saving Country Music. “I took it out on the road and played it live for awhile before recording it. Only fitting that the song took that path since it is about being in a band that doesn’t slow down. We come in like an 18 wheeler and fuck shit up with no brakes.”
