Courtney Cole Chats Being “Drunk” on Life with New Video

Courtney Cole recently released her video for “Drunk,” a fun, uptempo ode to loving life – no alcohol required.

“I had a blast,” Cole says of the filming process. “I love being on camera and have ever since I was a kid. We were shooting for like 12 or 13 hours and at the end of the day I was like, ‘Can we do this again? Like, tomorrow?'”

Cole states that she wanted her hometown to be a part of the video’s spirit.

“I’m from New Orleans, and that city kind of shaped me into who I am, kind of shaped a lot of the music that I listen to,” Cole continues. “I wanted that to be a part of the video, and we couldn’t go down there to shoot it, but it was Mardi Gras week, so I was like, let’s bring the party to Tennessee. The drum that I hit it had the fleur-de-lis on it, there’s a couple of little signs that I hold up that have fleur-de-lis on them, and just lots of color.”

The video is as fun as the song, a lighthearted reminder to let loose, which first appeared on Cole’s #NoFilter EP. “It’s my first little like handshake with the world, and I’m really proud of it,” Cole says of the EP.

“‘Drunk’ is probably my favorite on there because it really represents me at the truest form. In the last couple of years I’ve really learned to let go and take life in at the fullest and not take everything so seriously. That’s kind of what “Drunk” was for me, just that release, like, life is awesome, you know? We don’t have to take it so seriously!”

Since we last spoke with Cole, she’s been busy writing new music, working towards releasing a second EP, and touring.
