Dierks Bentley’s Second Song Off ‘Black’ Album Is Sultry “I’ll Be The Moon”

The second song released by Dierks Bentley off his upcoming album Black features the vocals of Maren Morris. “I’ll Be The Moon” tells a story of two people caught in a love triangle.  The song leads you through a sultry affair.

Are the secret exchanges, meetings, and longing to be together, even though wrong, worth the risk of being caught? It’s the story of holding onto the safety of a familiar relationship yet sneaking off to be with someone else whenever possible.

“Tomorrow you’ll be waking up beside him / tell him that you love him but you still see me,” Bentley sings.

The struggle of conscience is not enough for the lovers to pull apart, willing to take whatever they can get from one another.

“I don’t wanna be a liar / I don’t wanna be a fool / I don’t wanna be a secret but I will if you want me to / you can leave me in the dark if that’s all I get from you / He can be the sun / I’ll be the moon.”

“I’ll Be The Moon” is perhaps a catalyst for change along the relationship journey that is shaping up to be Bentley’s Black album. Bentley described the album to Rolling Stone Country as a “relationship record” with “13 songs with one central theme of love.”  Along with the song, Bentley and director Wes Edwards have released a video for the song which is the first in a four part series.

Fans with the Dierks Bentley Black Card were given an exclusive download of the song on April 1st.  The Black Card is available at www.dierks.com.

“I’ll Be The Moon” is the second release off Bentley’s upcoming album Black following single “Somewhere On A Beach.”  Black is available for pre-order now and is scheduled for release on May 27th.
