Hear Chris Stapleton’s Poignant “Broken Halos” from Forthcoming Album

Grammy winner Chris Stapleton has released the first single off his recently-announced album From A Room: Volume 1“Broken Halos” opens the forthcoming record, leading off with a simple guitar chord and Stapleton’s immediate strong delivery of the chorus. The song was written by Stapleton and Mike Henderson, and the lyrics describe a solemn understanding that only comes after experiencing or witnessing hardship. The single grapples with poignant – yet ultimately unanswerable – questions about life (“We’re not meant to know the answers, they belong to the by and by”) and offers production that is soulful and rocking at its core but coated with friendly relatability that softens Stapleton’s powerful sound. “Broken Halos” is a well-executed welcome letter; Stapleton seems to invite listeners in, implying that he’s seen what they’ve seen and, quite simply, understands.

Key Lyrics: “Seen my share of broken halos / Folded wings that used to fly / They’ve all gone wherever they go / Broken halos that used to shine …”

Stapleton will release From A Room: Volume 1 on May 5, shortly after he embarks on the “All American Road Show” later this month. The tour will include a variety of opening acts, from Brent Cobb and Anderson East to Brothers Osborne, Lucie Silvas, and more.
