Donovan Woods (Toronto native and part-time Nashvillian) released his full-length LP Hard Settle, Ain’t Troubled in February 2016 and followed up with his They Are Going Away EP earlier this year. To this point, Woods’ sound has been marked by acoustic fingerpicking, hard-hitting lyrics, and soft, melancholic vocals. With his latest single “All Mine” (out last Friday), he breaks from his traditional sound to present a more layered, pop-influenced track.
The lyrics are notably more positive than Woods’ standard – “Beautiful, I’m into something beautiful” – but when combined with the contemplative, echoing percussion, the song maintains Woods’ signature complexity. Listen below:
