Since announcing The Nashville Sound and a subsequent set of headlining slots at the Ryman later this year, Isbell and his band have released a handful of tracks from their forthcoming project. The latest, “White Man’s World”, is the most politically-charged of the collection thus far. The lyrics are expertly crafted as always, confronting white male privilege and questioning the world Isbell’s young daughter will inherit as she grows up. The message is bold, arresting and thought-provoking, while the sultry, swampy production highlights the ominous guitar and dramatic fiddle.
