Whether or not you are a fan of the television show Nashville, the song “No One Will Ever Love You” deserves a closer listen. One of the first songs introduced back in season one, the duet tells the tale of struggling emotions in an unclear relationship. Written by Steve McEwan and John Paul White, obvious resentment rings loud and clear from the lyric, a melancholy vocal trading off verses to explain how they will never find another love that compares.

“Why you always looking for the limelight? /Ain’t you satisfied with me? / Oh, for once why don’t you get down off your high heels / You’re no big deal / Can’t you see? / I know why you’re lonely / It’s time you knew it too / No one will ever love you / No one will ever love you like I do”

Connie Britton and Charles Esten sing on the track, seducing each other back into an unhealthy relationship. For anyone who has ever felt pulled in the wrong direction by love, this one is for you.
