Jason Aldean Leads New Album With “Lights Come On”

Though normally country singers are quick to flip the lights to the “off” position for the late-night centerpiece to their songs, Jason Aldean’s throwing full wattage at his latest single, “Lights Come On.”

“Being on stage is why I do what I do, it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do,” Aldean says in a release. “This song is all about that rush you can only get from stepping on stage and listening to fans sing along to every word. It’s about throwing the biggest party from the floor to the top of the rafters for all those people who spent their paycheck to come see us. We’re bringing it to Vegas this weekend and I can’t think of a better place to kick it off than at the ACM’s.”

The song is signature Aldean – heavy guitar, soaring solos, punchy production – and the lyrical content is solid, thought not breathtaking. Songs self-referencing the touring artist’s life have become increasingly popular of late, and “Lights Come On” fits snugly, an uptempo ode to the joys of when “the six string circus comes to town / we hang them speakers over the crowd.”  Like much of Aldean’s music, the record-to-stadium vibe is strong, and it’s easy to envision the song feeling anthemic in a giant setting.

The song, written by Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard along with Jimmy Robbins, Jordan Schmidt, and the Warren Brothers, leads his seventh studio album, due this summer.
