Levi Hummon Launches New Pop-Influenced Single “Don’t Waste the Night”

Levi Hummon is not your typical country artist, and his new single “Don’t Waste the Night” stretches genre boundaries even farther. Co-written with Josh Thompson and Matt Dragstrem, the progressive tune has an easy groove, slick production, and a strong pop feel. According to an interview with Rolling Stone Country, “Don’t Waste the Night” was largely influenced by Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You.”

Hummon’s single pairs repetitive, catchy beats with simple-but-effective chord progressions. The most intriguing part of the single is the instrumentation and production – it’s clear that each part was meticulously chosen and layered carefully. The result is a song with a simplistic but satisfying feel.

Levi has several upcoming shows covering the East and Midwest, and a show at The High Watt in Nashville on May 16.
