Country duo Maddie & Tae premiered their music video for “Fly” Saturday on CMT. Written by Maddie Marlow, Tae Dye and Tiffany Vartanyan, “Fly” is the Dot Records’ recording artists’ second single from their self-titled debut EP that was released in November. The ballad encourages listeners to keep going despite doubt or fear of failing (with harmonies on point).
“You have to believe…no matter what your dream is, and no matter what people tell you. That’s why this song matters. We hope for anyone else trying to make a dream come true, they can find the faith to keep going in ‘Fly’ when they’re about to give up,” Maddie says.
The video, directed by Brian Lazzaro, features Maddie & Tae in chairs high up on a wall and is filled with visual metaphors.
“Being suspended – which we are in the performance – is just how it feels when you want everything to happen, but you’re sort of stuck in what you want and how it is. But that’s what the song’s about, too, those are the times when you really truly do have to keep trying,” Maddie tells Country Music Is Love.
