Muscadine Bloodline Makes Punchy Debut with Self-Titled EP

Alabama-born, Nashville-based duo Muscadine Bloodline released their self-titled debut EP last Friday, January 20, on CN Records. Comprised of singer-songwriters Gary Stanton and Charlie Muncaster, the five-song EP is a refreshing mix of country harmonies and Southern-rock sounds, complemented by propelling guitar licks and captivating hooks.

The standout lead single, “WD-40,” is a slow-tempo love song that tells the classic story of a girl turning a boy’s world upside down, with lyrics like, “Thought that was all I needed ’til you came around / To loosen things up and hold them down,” and “Girl, you know your love can fix anything / Like duct tape and WD-40.

The duo breaks out the fun and good-time spirit with “Depending On The Night,” and takes it back to their true Alabama country roots with the dramatic, bluesy “Ginny.” The fourth song off the EP, titled “Crickets and Cane Poles,” is a beautifully-written story about both the simplicity of younger years and the complexity of family relationships: “When we’d go fish, we don’t talk, except when our lines got crossed /But I don’t care, ‘cause the only love you show / Is at a fishing hole, with crickets and cane poles.

The EP is currently sitting at the No. 10 spot on the iTunes Country chart. They first turned heads and sparked interest with their 2016 single, “Porch Swing Angel,” which now has over 800,000 streams on Spotify alone.
