Nashville aims to make history with tonight’s premiere. The episode marks the first time a primetime drama will feature live musical performances intertwined with pre-taped drama. Charles Esten (Deacon Claybourne) and Chris Carmack (Will Lexington) perform live on Nashville’s set of the historical Bluebird Cafe.

The logistics of the show will be anything but easy. To be successful, the show will have to flow seamlessly between the taped and live parts of the show. “Not only is it interesting and exciting in that anything-can-happen kind of way, but it’s also a piece of what our show is, which is about live music and about it being real and actually being us — no smoke, no mirrors, no auto-tune,” says Nashville star, Charles Esten.

Fans of Florida Georgia Line will be excited to know, the duo will also be performing live. ‘Nashville’ executive producer Dee Johnson tells People Magazine, “Florida Georgia Line is one of the music industry’s hottest groups. They’ve achieved the level of stardom that we explore every week on Nashville, so we are delighted to have them perform live on both coasts for our historic third season premiere.”

Season 3 of “Nashville” premieres tonight on ABC.
