Nathan Carter tackles a classic theme in “Simple Life,” that of preferring life in the relaxed lane. Melodically, the song is right at home with radio hits, with sunny production and uptempo energy. But Carter, an Irishman from Liverpool, adds an extremely interesting twist; the instrumentation is heavily infused with elements of traditional Irish folk music, and Carter’s vocals sound simultaneously country and traditionally Irish. It’s definitely a novel sound, but you can put us down as fans of Irish country.
