New Single “We Should Be Friends” Is Quintessential Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert released her double-disc The Weight Of These Wings this Friday, featuring lead single “Vice” and jaunty follow-up “We Should Be Friends.” The song is quintessentially Lambert – lyrics both sassy and inclusive, with country vocals over spunky instrumentation. The song is the only one on the album for which Lambert had no co-writers, and the result is both relatable and compelling, inviting the companionship of those who are similarly imperfect, strong, and down-to-earth.

Similar to Lambert’s older songs, “We Should Be Friends” champions the every-man (and woman) in a lyrically fresh way. Though The Weight Of These Wings offers much on the somber side of Lambert’s repertoire, the song is an uptempo counterpoint, and follows well on the heels of “Vice.”
