Newcomer Jordan Davis’ “Singles You Up” Gives Hope to The Good Guys

Meet Jordan Davis: you may recognize the last name – his older brother is the popular Jacob Davis – and Jordan has been a frequent co-writer on some of our choices for Demo of the Week. Jordan, a Louisiana native who attended LSU studying resource conservation, was always drawn to songwriting. In fact, he was urged to make the move to Nashville after his brother played one of his unfinished songs for a music executive. Davis is currently working on his debut album for Universal Music Group Nashville and “Singles You Up” is his debut single.

“Singles You Up” tells the story of a guy holding out hope that the woman whom he’s admiring realizes her current boyfriend isn’t worthy of her and turns to him instead.  The track was co-written by Davis, Justin Ebach, and Steven Dale Jones. It’s a peppy, uptempo song that’ll easily have you singing along and rooting for the good guy who is willing to wait for the girl. Davis’ music should appeal to fans of Sam Hunt, Jacob Davis, Old Dominion, and Billy Currington.

His particular sound was born from his personal love for songwriters such as John Prine, Jim Croce, Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson, along with more recent influences like Usher and Kings of Leon. As he’s matured, his sound has naturally evolved and become a blend of traditional country storytelling with a pop-influenced sound. Davis says, “I think one of the coolest things about being a songwriter is being able to take the idea or being able to take the melody, go sit down, write a song, take it into the studio and see it just come to life.”

Key Lyrics: “He hasn’t even looked your way since you walked in / But I can’t help it that I can’t take my eyes off of you / Your favorite song just came on and me and you were singing along / And he don’t even know a single word“.
