New trio STELLA // JAMES have been building buzz in Nashville, and we’re INCREDIBLY excited to premiere their debut release today.
Though the release is billed as a set of acoustic demos, “Stella,” “Songbird,” and “Red Flag” feel fully formed – a raw energy accompanied by instrumentation that, in a time when pop, rock, and r&b are infusing country music, manages to sound both quintessentially country and modern but timeless.
STELLA // JAMES features harmonies that appeal to the Zac Brown or Little Big Town fan alike, with melodic lines that dance delicately together, harmonizing beautifully but each with something distinct to say.
Each track is a standout in its own right, from the more melancholic “Songbird” to the punchy “Stella.” Lyrically, too, the group shines – “Stella” and “Red Flag” feature a character that’s a warning sign in heels, a protagonist that you might meet at the bar with Jolene.
