Sky high dreams only become a reality with a firm foundation, and ASCAP’s 2019 “I Create Music” EXPO promises exactly that. With the warm, intimate surroundings of The Bluebird Café as a backdrop, hit songwriters and EXPO alumni Ashley Gorley, Cassadee Pope, Matt Jenkins and Jon Nite shared their biggest songs and filled the room with tangible inspiration on Wednesday night.

The ASCAP 2019 “I Create Music” EXPO is the largest gathering of songwriters on the continent and is scheduled for May 2-4 in Hollywood. And if you ask Ashley Gorley, whose career has earned him 38 #1 songs, he wishes he’d had something like the EXPO “back in the day.” The goal of the EXPO is to offer artistic inspiration, but also to give songwriters the tools, connections and knowledge to make the most of their talent. Gorley also mentioned the value of networking and the connections that the EXPO helped to provide.

Cassadee Pope, who served on a panel at the EXPO in 2018, said it’s “intimidating” to share the stage with some of the best in the business but thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to share her advice with EXPO attendees.

In addition to hearing about ASCAP’s upcoming EXPO, The Bluebird Café patrons were also treated to hit after hit from the four incredible songwriters. The small space was filled with emotion as they performed songs like “You’re Gonna Miss This” (Ashley Gorley, Thomas Lee Miller), “Break Up in the End” (Jon Nite, Chase McGill, Jessie Jo Dillon), “Cop Car” (Matt Jenkins, Zach Crowell, Sam Hunt), and “One More Red Light” (Cassadee Pope, Kelly Archer, Emily Shackleton) among many others.

“This town is a great place to dream,” adds Jon Nite.
