Sara Haze Records Her Rascal Flatts Song “Riot”

Songwriter and artist Sara Haze, who co-wrote Rascal Flatts’ single “Riot” with Jaron Boyer, has released her own version of the song, which was the third single from Flatts’ album Rewind last year and inspired the name of their current tour.

Haze’s version is much simpler than the Flatts record, stripped solely to a solitary piano and her voice. While the vocal delivery of Flatts’ Gary LeVox is powerful, as if he’s singing away the pain of the lyric, Haze’s is breathier, allowing for the vulnerability and uncertainty to seep through. It’s a solid offering, and definitely puts a new emotional quality on her song.

Check out Haze’s version and learn more about the writer and artist on her website, Facebook, and Twitter.
