Fans of The Band Perry will be thrilled to know that they’re releasing the leadoff single off of their third studio album this June. Though there is no exact date for the release, the band confirmed that they’re over half-way through the recording process.
Over the past few months, the sibling trio has dropped hints about what to expect with their new music, emphasizing that this release will have a different sound than their previous two albums. The Band Perry reportedly spent time with music-maven Pharrell Williams to experimenting with the harmonies one of their new songs. If Pharrell’s involvement is any indication, it’s likely that the new album will have a built-out, pop-driven sound.
Lyrically, newlywed Kimberly Perry says that the upcoming release will feature stronger elements of romance. Light-hearted stories will certainly differentiate this album from past albums, in which they’ve buried love, chopped it to the ground, and sworn it off forever, in songs such as, “Better Dig Two,” “Done.,” and “Chainsaw.” Accordingly, the siblings have described the new music as “colorful,” in contrast to the darker images typically associated with their songs.
