Zac Brown Band Releases Lighthearted “Family Table” Ahead of New Album

The Zac Brown Band is gearing up for the release of Welcome Home, their forthcoming studio album due out May 12. In the meantime, the band has released the lead single, “My Old Man,” as well as another track, “Real Thing,” from the project. Yesterday, the band made a third song available: “Family Table,” an upbeat, lighthearted track whose lyrics encourage strong familial bonds and a welcoming spirit.

“Family Table” is certainly in keeping with the album’s title, and its beachy rhythms combine with a happy string section to create a lighter vibe compared to the project’s more serious tracks. The lyrics proclaim a genuine “gather ’round” message, but the tasteful production avoids crossing the line into corny cliches.

Key Lyrics: “Ain’t too many things that could stand the test of time / But this family table’s held together by love that never dies / So won’t you come on in, supper’s almost done / Go ahead and call your friends, cause we got room for everyone.”

Welcome Home, produced by Dave Cobb, is the follow-up to the band’s Jekyll + Hyde album, and marks the band’s first project on the Southern Ground/Elektra label. Their accompanying “Welcome Home Tour” begins May 12 in Georgia – find tour dates and ticket information here.
