It’s always a shame when a young talent decides to walk away from a promising career, especially when that young talent is a woman walking away from a long-fought singer-songwriter career in country music. At first glance, this is the story of Katie Armiger.
Armiger has the kind of voice that can send chills down your spine on a single note. Combining her skills as a vocalist with her poetic lyrics, Armiger has the potential to be a star. Or, perhaps, had the potential.
“Katie Armiger has decided to take a breather and decide her next career aspirations,” Pete O’Heeron, the President of Armiger’s label Cold River Records, told Country Aircheck this morning. “It has been the thrill of a lifetime to work with her and watch her blossom into one of the best singer-songwriters of her generation. Katie is a special talent and an even better person. As a label, we love her and support her decision and we will always be her biggest fans.”
As the day has gone on, however, more confusing things have happened. Armiger’s Twitter account is now gone. Furthermore, she posted this on Instagram:
This Instagram has since been deleted and reposted multiple times. Armiger is currently not available for comment. Cold River Records has not yet said anything further on the matter.
There is something seriously sketchy going on. Who is Katie Armiger? Is she an up-and-coming artist silenced and shunned by those who are supposed to support her? Is there another side to the story we have yet to hear? And, perhaps most importantly, what could her label be hiding?
