Exclusive Premiere: Vandoliers’ “Spring Water Supper Club”

Alt-country, punk-rock-infused Vandoliers offer an exciting mix in “Spring Water Supper Club,” a jaunty alt anthem with distinct flair. The Dallas/Fort Worth group, formed in 2015, are set to release their debut album, Ameri-Kinda, on October 21. We’re so excited to premiere “Spring Water Supper Club” below.

“I was in Chapel Hill, North Carolina when the acid started to hit,” they say of the song. “My old punk band was in the middle of an East Coast tour and we were on our way to Nashville. Chapel Hill was a good time. We played a packed show at The Cave where we met some hippies with sugar cubes dipped in LSD. The bass player in that band, Forrest, and I are the adventurous type, always down for a good time. This time we found ourselves driving through a melting mountain range in the middle of the night. I remember seeing, in my altered state, a huge purple cloud over a fiber-optic forest of dancing trees and thinking we may not make it to the next town alive. That’s the acid part of the story. Fortunately, we did, and that next night we were playing the Springwater Supper Club for the first time. The club may not carry the cachet as, say, the Ryman or even The 5 Spot, but anyone that’s ever been there can tell you it’s just as deserving of being immortalized in song. It’s a small, hole-in-the-wall next to a barbecue shed. There’s no A.C. and they only serve beer. And just to put the capper on the whole thing, the Black Keys did a secret show and filmed their “Little Black Submarines” video there the day before we arrived. Needless to say, while coming down off a long trip it was a place we felt immediately right at home. That little bar made an impression on me, and I will never forget the journey to get there.”
