Dianna Corcoran, already an established artist in Australia, is bringing her sass and country flare to the U.S with her new album In America, set to release on January 29th. Deciding to come to the states and pursue her music career here was necessary. “No one loves country music like America,” she says. “Anyone who is very serious about a career in it and wants to keep going has to make the move.” Corcoran has unbelievable vocal ability which has allowed her to get this far in the music world and she is ready to share her talent with Nashville and America.

Don’t let the perfect curls and pretty dresses fool you – Corcoran has a knack for hard work and is hyper focused on making her dreams come true. Working three jobs growing up, including learning to fix cars, she set her mind to succeeding. “I definitely didn’t come from money so it’s one of the scenarios where everything I have gotten in my career I have worked for and fought for,” she says.  “I am hardcore so I go in. Where there is a will there’s a way, so I’ve found a way.”

Although she grew up in Australia, she always had a feeling she would end up in the U.S. “When I was a little girl (14) I was singing in Sydney, just me and my guitar, and this guy came from NY came up to me and said, “You belong in NY, they would love you,” and I looked at him and told him that I am a country singer and I want to go to Nashville so that was always something I thought about,” she tells us. “It turns out that he wasn’t the only one to say that, lots of New Yorkers gravitate towards my music and ironically enough I signed my record deal in New York.”

On her new album In America, Corcoran not only co-wrote each of the songs but also solo produced. “I don’t write or sing anything that is not relevant to me in my life so it is all incredibly authentic,” she tells us. “I don’t have many rules in music – I let the music kind of dictate where it’s going to go and the emotions dictate all of that but my one rule is it must be authentic. That’s the most important thing to me.” As a writer and producer, Concoran controlled much of the sonic direction. “I wanted to make sure that my album was pop country, very modern,” she says,  “but I went back in the production and you will hear from about 8 years ago when Faith Hill, The Dixie Chicks and Shania Twain were sort of in charge and I really wanted to bring that back a little bit.”

Corcoran says each of the songs is a true story and that she wrote each track from a real place in her heart. “It is an emotional journey up and down and hopefully you end up in a good place at the end of it, but am really proud of it,” she shares.  The first single off the record  is “God Did Good,” a catchy love song perfect for live performance. Hoping one day to duet with P!nk, she wants to bring back girl power to the country music world, and her go-getting attitude and creative control on her latest record position her perfectly to lead that charge. In addition, it was recently announced that a song she co-wrote with Dani Elliott and Robin Grant called “Black Heart,” performed by Dani Elliott, plays in the commercial for the Part 2 DVD release of Mockingjay.
