This Nashville native has been working on his craft for many years now; a graduate of Belmont University, Dickerson states that he learned so much about music while getting his degree. “Those were huge years for me as an artist. My understanding of music went so much deeper than anything I could have learned on my own,” he says. Dickerson loves spending time touring the country and getting an opportunity to meet the fans who truly love country music.
His first single, “Green Light,” hit the airwaves on Sirius XM’s The Highway and stayed on the “Hot 30 Live” for seven weeks straight. This was a huge accomplishment for Dickerson considering he is an independent artist. His second single, “Yours,” debuted at number 30 this past August and is climbing up The Highway’s countdown currently landing at number 15. Fans of the song are connecting with this touching, beautiful tribute to finally finding a true love. “I was a boat stuck in a bottle / That never got a chance to touch the sea / I came alive when I first kissed you / The best me has his arms around you / You make me better than all else before / Thank God I’m yours.” The DJs on The Highway have called “Yours” the best love song of 2015. The powerful imagery moves you through the simple arrangement of the piano, electric, and slide guitar.
For fans who follow him on Instagram, they are not only treated to videos of Dickerson belting out his songs but also clips of him surprising guests at their wedding to sing “Yours.” Watching the brand new bride and groom spin around the room to this already classic love song, Dickerson’s powerful vocals really give you sense of what #GettinRusselled is all about. Hundreds of brides have commented on his Instagram page after these posts with their wedding date in hopes he would show up and surprise them as well.
Having already opened for big names such as Billy Currington, Kip Moore, Darius Rucker and Kelly Pickler, Dickerson is no stranger to the road life. He is also about to experience how is it feels to perform on the open seas. Joining Florida Georgia Line for their second annual This is How We Cruise, Dickerson is one of many country artists to sail from Miami to Cozumel, Mexico including Sam Hunt, Dustin Lynch and even R&B singer Jason Derulo. Immediatly after returning home from the cruise Dickerson will be the opening act for Cannan Smith’s Stomping Grounds Tour.
“There is nothing greater than watching fans sing along to the songs that tell their stories and mine,” says Dickerson, proving that he is ready for a life full of creating music that will make people fall in love with his songs for years to come.
