We’re Looking For Interns!

Happy fall, y’all! We’re looking for interns: an Editorial Intern and a Video Intern. We’ve included a little more about each internship below, as well as how to apply!

Editorial Internship

Description:
The Shotgun Seat is looking for writers to join the team who share our love for quality journalism and country music.  Interns will have the opportunity to cover a number of topics including new music reviews, songwriter spotlights, artist interviews, concert reviews, opinion pieces, new music reviews and more, as well as checking out new music and assisting with day to day requirements of running the site. We’re looking for creative individuals who are also willing to identify other innovative topics to cover.

The internship provides the opportunity to be a part of a growing media organization, gain press access to concerts, attend industry listening events and showcases, and make connections in the music industry. Our focus on producing quality content will allow interns to develop their writing skills and gain experience in creating engaging content. Interns will have the opportunity to have their work reach a wide audience by promoting their articles via our social media platforms, and will build familiarity with and connections in the country music industry.

Commitment:
We ask that writers contribute a minimum of one (1) post per week. Beyond that, interns can contribute as frequently as they desire. For those available to conduct interviews or cover events, weekday flexibility is preferred. Internship is unpaid and part-time, and can be completed for college credit, although credit is not required.

Location:
Internship can be completed remotely, although interns based in Nashville or New York City will have the greatest in-person coverage opportunities available. If in Nashville, intern can hold weekly office hours with our founder, Annie Dineen on weeks without events. Onboarding/training will take place via phone/email for those not in Nashville.

Application Deadlines:
We accept applications on an on-going basis.

How to Apply:
Submit a resume, cover letter, and two (2) writing samples to Internships@TheShotgunSeat.com with the internship for which you’re applying in the subject line.

An ideal candidate will have experience with shooting video of musical events for optimal sound quality and can provide their own equipment and who is looking to build their experience, resume, and connections within the country music industry. Intern will receive full credit for each video created with our editorial team.

Commitment:
Intern must have weekday availability to schedule content shoots that work our intern, our editorial staff, and the artists or songwriters with which we’re coordinating. An average of one day a week is required, although editing can count towards internship hours and may be done at the intern’s discretion as long as time is logged. Internship is unpaid and part-time, and can be completed for college credit, although credit is not required.
