Brett Eldredge has traded the soulful, heart-wrenching grooves of recent #1 “Mean to Me” for poppy and uptempo it his latest single, “Lose My Mind.” Written with Ross Copperman and Heather Morgan (with whom he also wrote #1 “Beat of the Music,”) “Lose My Mind” has Eldredge going Gnarls Barkley “Crazy” (sonically, literally.) Possibly the most upbeat song Eldredge has released to date, “Lose My Mind” is danceable and catchy, while retaining the signature soulful quality of his strong vocals.
“You make all my screws come loose, got me perfectly confused / always find a way to mess me up and drive me wild / I love the way you make me lose my mind,” Eldredge sings on the hook.
It’s straitjackets and padded rooms in this jam, which has Eldredge a victim to the woman – and himself.
“I’m a very high-strung guy, and I feel like I’m probably going crazy a lot of the time,” he told People Magazine at the ACM Awards this past Sunday. “I just wanted to make a fun video, portraying the way a girl kinda makes you lose your mind and completely wraps all of your thoughts around her.”
