Josh Abbott Band’s New “Amnesia” Video Will “Hit You in the Gut”

The new video for “Amnesia,” the latest track off Josh Abbott Band’s Front Row Seat album, follows a heartbroken character, played by Abbott, as he seeks treatment to actually get amnesia, because “Sometimes it’s better to forget, isn’t it?” as the doctor in the video states. The deep lyrics, written by Abbott himself along with famed songwriters Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, accompany and even deeper video, directed by Evan Kaufman, with a heartbreaking plot twist. Abbott explains, “I didn’t want the video for “Amnesia” to be predictable: in other words, I didn’t want it to be about divorce or breaking up. I wanted those words to be felt dramatically in a situation that was even more hopeless. So Evan Kaufmann and I worked on a script and treatment that takes the viewer through some very personal images and memories of this main character as he explores his options for moving on from someone. The ending will hit you in the gut.”

The latest release is part of an effort to, as Abbott shares, “do some different stuff and let people hear a different side of us. Particularly for that song we wanted it to be a little darker.” Darker it certainly is, heartbreaking, yet beautifully relatable.
