Erik Dylan’s Latest Song “Ashes” is Raw and Honest

Erik Dylan’s latest, “Ashes,” is about as raw and honest as it gets. “If you ain’t livin boy you’re dying,” he candidly puts it. “Gotta take the sunshine and the pain / Let your scars shine like diamonds / And thank the Lord you’re in the game.”

“Ashes” takes root in a space within the soul that aches with the blunt and open wounds of reality while leaving behind an optimistic after taste. Dylan’s raspy and alluring voice leaves in a whisper full of words that linger with each breath. “Ashes to ashes, dust to dust / Dance in the rain until you rust / Don’t let the small stuff weigh you down / Cause you just get one go round,” Dylan sings.

This stripped down and heart wrenching recording allows the focus to directly feature the vocal and the lyrics accompanied by the quiet, underlying guitar picking. “Ashes” holds a similar message to that of Lori Mckenna’s “Humble and Kind,” recently recorded by Tim McGraw, but contains a darker edge to it that makes it all the more haunting and enchanting.

Dylan has been staying busy landing a cut on Kip Moore’s latest album, Wild Ones, and all the while, has been out on the road touring. Check out his socials to see what else he’s been up to and to see if he’s coming to a venue near you!
