By Popular Demand, Thomas Rhett’s cover of Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man” hit iTunes on Monday

Ask and you shall receive. After a high demand from fans, Thomas Rhett and his team at Big Machine Label Group released the Country cover of Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man” Monday night. Rhett teased the Country cover of the hit song on Twitter in early December as an incentive for fans to re-tweet a message that would count as a vote for him to win Best New Artist at the inaugural American Country Countdown Awards, an award decided by fans using social media.

Although Kip Moore took home the ACC Award, Rhett’s fans were adamant about hearing the cover. The Valory Music Co. recording artist stayed true to his word, and after the message was re-tweeted over 3,000 times, released the video on Rolling Stone. The black and white video, with almost 400,000 views and rising, features only Rhett, his wife Lauren, and a pianist, which perfectly showcases Rhett’s vocal range.

Rhett is quickly solidifying his place in country music. The 24-year-old is currently on tour with Florida Georgia Line’s Anything Goes Tour, and is nominated for the ACM’s New Artist of the Year award (the three final nominees are decided by online votes). His sophomore album is expected later this year.
