Brett Eldredge’s Song “Fire” Is, Well, Just That

Damn, Brett Eldredge! He and Thomas Rhett have taken the country reigns, leading the genre down an uptempo, soul-infused path, and “Fire,” from Eldredge’s upcoming album Illinois, is no exception. Lyrically, Eldredge is following his own footsteps in the sand on the thematic heels of “Don’t Ya” and “Lose My Mind” – he’s chasing girls – but much like “Lose Your Mind,” “Fire” feels exciting and fresh. “Fire,” which Eldredge wrote with Ross Copperman and Jon Nite, is an indicator of what to expect from the singer’s sophomore release: soulful sounds and high energy. “Lose My Mind” co-writer Heather Morgan recently echoed this sentiment when we chatted with her about writing the song. “There was not a rule in the room that day,” she said of writing with Eldredge for the new album.

Illinois releases via Warner Music on September 11. “Lose My Mind,” Eldredge’s current single, is currently at #19 on country radio, and Eldredge looks to have it follow #1 singles “Don’t Ya,” “Beat of the Music,” and “Mean to Me.”
